ddr70's Bio
This started for me probably around the time I was 12 as my Dad's snack food delivery business included 1C and 5C bubblegum machines. I would wrap cents often 2000 at a time (40 rolls). I could pick out the shiny ones and the wheaties. I wish I knew then what I know now. Best coin found as I recall was just a 1909 VDB in AU condition... and I must have gone through 200,000 cents and nickels (some machines took both and you had to sort the nickels and cents). Best nickel finds were silver WWII dates and one oddity I put away--found it decades later and it was the heaviest clashed coin I've seen on a modern nickel. Value wise I probably did better finding a few 90% silver halves and a number of 40% silver halves from the bank.
Mom and Dad did save a few National Bank notes (series of 1929) and I have two of them that I had graded in my Small Nationals Signature sets.
