Been with comics since I was a kid and favorites growing up were 2000AD and the comic that started the great Dark Age (none of that namby pamby Copper Age in the 51st State!): Warrior, 'nuff said.
As Moore started writing for the US comic authorities with Swamp Thing, Watchmen, V and some key one-off's I also discovered Mr Miller and Daredevil, the Dark Knight and Elektra Assassin and many others; this was truly a great time for comics...long before the Great Age of Variants enveloped us all and sucked the bank accounts dry.
As a student in the late 80's I made some extra cash selling comics mail order, typing up lists (under the moniker of "Necropolis Comics") and putting small ad's in the 51st State comic press. I still have a stack of stuff bought for pennies from various market stalls and book shops (must sell them though as the cupboard is getting pretty full now!). However, I went off comics for a good while in the 90's, focusing on beer, football (that's where you kick a ball with your foot), wimin, and finally kids. I only really then returned to the hobby in the Noughties with eBay (started selling...and foolishly buying again!).
More recently, I have enjoyed many books such as LoEG, Y, Preacher, Top 10, Ultimates, Alice in Sunderland, back issues of Sandman (didn't read it at the time), etc etc. Also got into the perverse activity of keeping comics hostage inside plastic prisons and compete in a few registry sets. I now have a self financing comic collection, buying quality raw comics, getting them CGC graded and selling some of them (making just enough to keep my addiction going). I might even compete in the Miracleman set...just need a 9.9 #15 or #24 and I'll be there, one day, maybe...(note: a Miracleman #15 9.9 has appeared and it's not mine so maybe I'll have to shelve that plan...maybe V for Vendetta instead...).
