Covers that tease us by showing Clark Kent and Superman together are always fun. I purchased this piece when I only had a handful of CGC comics in my collection. This piece brings back fond memories of the early days of my CGC collecting, like the excitement of winning an online auction and collecting books printed before my time, that appear as if they were printed yesterday - 9.8 books really spoil you.
In 2022 I found another CGC 9.8 example of this issue, the cover alignment was perfect and the grade date was actually on my birthday, I couldn’t resist purchasing it. My first copy has decent cover alignment but the back cover has a bit of the front cover showing, the replacement copy was perfect in that regard. When the book arrived I was very pleased, the book was gorgeous, the corners were sharp, the colors were vibrant and the holder was flawless. When I examined the book again later on I discovered it had been damaged during shipping, the bottom pages edges were sticking out, the cover had been slightly ripped in the staple areas, when I turned the book upside down, the pages would slide back into place. That was a real shame, CGC placed the book in an inner well with too much space for the book to move around. Luckily I was able to return the book for a refund.
