An absolutely amazing book with pure white pages, perfect cover centering, rich colors and perfect cover orientation - at CGC 9.8. Actually this is one of my finest 9.8 books - I simply cannot see any damage to the book, so compared to other 9.8 books this book must be extremely close to 9.9!
Note that also the Comics Code stamp in the top right corner is uncut.
I bought this book from the original owner the American chemist Max G. Rodel - I guess it is now my job to watch over this beautiful book the next 30 years :-) Max G. Rodel was the original owner and provided this description of the book:
"I purchased this beautiful comic book in 1972 in Madison, Wisconsin. I am its original owner. I carefully selected the book from the comic stand, bagged it, boxed it, and locked it away. The book has been stored with great care in a dark, dry, smoke-free environment for 38 years.
CGC gave this book a very high grade of "9.8, WHITE pages." This is a top-graded copy in CGC's census. Here are my personal notes:
The book is perfectly flat with no trace of roll. All pages are tight.
Cover gloss is superbly bright, and colors are brilliant.
The cover is centered nicely, and the book has no bindery defects.
There are no folds, creases, stains, tears or handling marks on the book.
Edge of spine and edges of pages have NO signs of wear.
Corners are exceptionally square and sharp with NO signs of touching.
With careful examination, I can find NO transverse stress marks along the front edge of the spine.
Staples are centered perfectly, and are shiny copper.
Interior pages are beautifully supple and white. Prior to submittal of the book to CGC for grading, my OWL card measured the page whiteness at OWL:9+. CGC assigned a "WHITE Pages" rating to this book.
This is a spectacular copy of this comic book that is certified to be in NM/MT 9.8 condition, with beautiful white pages [...] The book is sealed inside its CGC Universal Grade plastic holder; the holder is in perfect condition."

8 of these 13 books had pure WP. I have photos/scans of all 13 books, and 0161652005 may be considered the book with most perfect cover centering and orientation. The second best book may be 0703081007, which has near-perfect centering and orientation, pure white pages and also has an uncut Comics Code stamp, but its cover orientation is slightly less horizontal than 0161652005.
