Plot Summary:
The Gold Team travels to Asteroid M for a rescue mission of the Blue Team. Nick Fury and Val Cooper advise them their time is almost up and to get out before the Russians destroy Magneto’s base with a plasma cannon. Aboard Asteroid M, Professor X can only watch as his Blue Team is brainwashed by Moira into following Magneto and his Acolytes. Some of them have begun to realize that something is wrong. Magneto still suffering from injuries he received from Wolverine and begins to grows more and more dependent on Fabian Cortez‘cures. The Gold Team arrives but now they must fight both their teammates and the Acolytes. As each Blue member uses their power they soon remember themselves and switch sides. Magneto stops the battle, but then he collapses. Moira tells Magneto that Cortez only boosted his powers to make him feel better, but never cured him. Cortez escapes and leaves Magneto behind to make him a martyr to inspire mutants all around the world to follow him. The plasma cannon is fired but the X-Men are able to hurry to their spaceship. Professor X tries to rescue Magneto and the remaining Acolytes as well, but they prefer to stay aboard. Asteroid M is destroyed and the X-Men can only watch as it enters the Earth’s atmosphere.
