Issue 47 was a GREAT cover. It is definitely one of the top five covers of this set, and that is the best compliment I could give Rick Leonardi. Art Adams, Tom Mandrake, and Bob McLeod are some of those among the greats that worked on the many covers I have.
There have been more times that I enjoyed the cover and the inside was damaging to the eye, or the complete opposite.
This was one of those books that not only was the cover art amazing, the interiors were mouth watering, and the story was worthy of reading the book multiple times. And then there is the rematch between the Hellions and The New Mutants.
I was hoping at the time that this series would be great again, and at times it was, and at times it was frustrating at times knowing they could have been so much better, but it ended producing a longer running series with the name X-Force. One of the overlooked characters in this book is James Proudstar. Issue 16 was his first appearance and he had another great appearance in issue 193 of the X-men, but this one was overlooked, even by me.
