Set Description:
Synopsis: This set currently includes 215 books with a minimum grade of 9.4. Obviously, it is nowhere close to a complete set, which is not our current goal.
Background: I initially just described this set as a few scattered issues Tripps may have owned back in the 90s in his journey towards amassing the world's greatest comic collection.
In 2020, we may have progressed a little from a few scattered issues, but this set is nothing like a complete FF run, and quite honestly, that has never been our objective. Initially, we were only interested in the Lee/Kirby run, but then started picking up a few random covers we liked above #102. Quite frankly, the books over #102 seem a little pricey to us for their age, but we do still buy the 9.8s when the price is right. But the later books have never been a priority, just an area where we look for decently priced acquisitions. We may eventually try to extend the run to #1-200, but again, it is a low priority at the present time. We would also be open to selling the later books.
2022 Update: We have continued to pick up 9.8s between #103-#200, although we often miss them because of price. I am not sure why, but these books continue to seem overpriced to us based on the age and census. Currently, we lack five books to complete the set through Issue #200. Those books are not a huge priority, but if the price is not too crazy, we would like to pick up some more.
2023 Update: We finally completed this set through Issue #200 when we filled our last open slot in May. As of today, we have no plans of taking this one any further, as we simply lack the room in our library.
