ISSUE SYNOPSIS: - Aftermath

With the intentions of saying goodbye for the last time, Spawn visits Granny Blake and explains his belief that both Heaven and Hell are corrupt. Granny, however, flatly rejects Spawn’s story and refuses to allow him to disparage her faith. Later, Spawn visits Cogliostro and discovers that he has little choice in regards to the role he will play on Earth. When Spawn killed Malebolgia, he became the demon’s de facto replacement. Cog tells Spawn that he must now serve in that capacity regardless of his feelings.

CENSUS REPORT: Tied for top census copy as of 6/13

NUMBER OF SALES: 64,022 preorders reported by Diamond Comic Distributors (9th place)

REFLECTIONS: This issue was released around the point at which sales figures began a serious and rapid decline. Simply study the sales figures I've provided to determine the severity of the drop. Lots of collectors began to lose interest. As a result, the number of copies that were treated as "file grade" also diminished, as many shop owners began to stuff the quarter bin with this title. These facts make it extremely hard to complete a full-run from issue #101 to issue #184. In fact, the title never recovered from its downward spiral, thus making later issues far more difficult to track down that issues released during the title's peak in the 1990s.
