NOTES OF INTEREST: This is an alternate edition of Spawn #1 (printed in 3-D) that was produced to commemorate a Todd McFarlane art retrospective for the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art in New York. It includes a pair of 3D glasses and a cover gallery. This issue marks the first appearance of Al Simmons as Spawn, the first appearance of Sam and Twitch, the first appearance of Malebolgia, the first appearance of Jason Wynn, and the first appearance of Wanda Blake.

ISSUE SYNOPSIS: - Questions (part 1 of 4)

Al Simmons rose from the grave five years after his death. The tortured hero made a deal with the devil in order to return to Wanda - his beloved wife. The details of his resurrection are as mysterious as the extent of his newly found powers, which are soon put to the test as he springs into action in order to save a woman from being raped. As Spawn struggles to remember his past, another otherworldly being arrives to terrorize the mob.
