Owner's Description

“Blackbirds” In an extended dream sequence, Rogue finds herself fighting Wolverine, using her power to take his abilities and memories, which include Wolverine having a son. Rogue and Logan start a fight and in the end she begs that he kills her since she can’t control her powers. Then she wakes up, shocked at her dream. She has been struggling with her feelings about leaving Gambit in Antarctica, and has been having dreams of touching others for a while. Storm arrives, since she heard Rogue was having a bad dream, and they talk about the dream; Storm says the others are gathering at the pond to have some fun. Even though it is winter, Storm uses her powers to make it pleasant day.

Meanwhile, Archangel and Psylocke talk on the roof of his penthouse, with Archangel wondering whether he should rejoin the team since he feels bad for not helping them with their current troubles. Psylocke displays more of her cold demeanor since her contact with the Crimson Dawn, and jumps off the roof. Archangel catches her, and she says she did it because she knew he would make the right choice. Archangel gets angry with her and flies off.

Back at the X-mansion, the X-men prepare for a day of swimming in the pond, but at the sight of Logan Rogue acts strangely. She goes to find Joseph, while Wolverine goes to meet a visitor that he could smell was approaching. This visitor turns out to be an inspector from the Board of Education. Wolverine tries to get her to go away, but she insists.

Meanwhile, far off in space, Bishop sleeps aboard a starship piloted by Deathbird. In his dreams, which also might be memories of a future yet to come, he sees one X-Man killed. (by costume it seems to be Cyclops or Cannonball). Bishop is still strapped in the medilab and Deathbird comes to his bedside, proclaiming her love for him, and saying they will rule an empire together soon.

At the Xavier Institute, Joseph is watching the news. On the TV there is a Dr. Agee who claims that his clinic would be able to change mutant genes into normal ones. Rogue reminds Joseph of the promise she made to him in space (Uncanny X-Men 345), she wants to help him remember his past and suggests to absorb it from him, but Joseph refuses the risky process. Rogue runs out of the room, right into Logan and the inspector. She panics and runs away, leaving the inspector suspicious. Logan attempts to show her the insides of the Xavier institute, where they find Joseph experiencing some seizure. He is hiding in a corner and freaks out, yelling to stay away from him. The inspector believes to have seen enough, she leaves and puts the school on probation.

Shortly afterwards Logan makes it to the pond, where the others (Cannonball, Maggott, Storm, Iceman and Jubilee) are enjoying themselves. Bobby tries to make some fun of Wolverine, but he isn’t in the mood and stalks off. Marrow, who had been hiding in a tree comments that at first he picks on those he doesn’t like (see X-Men 72) and now even on those he does. Logan has enough and leaves, as the others discover something metal in the pond. Iceman freezes the pond’s surface, revealing the original Blackbird. Storm explains that Forge must have it hidden there after having designed a new one (X-Men 1). Wolverine is lying down in the woods, trying to relax, and is grabbed by two hands that drain him of his energy. He screams and the others arrive, only to find Rogue sitting over him. They accuse her, and she denies doing anything. Storm does not believe Rogue, the incident is too similar to her dream last night; Ororo orders her to step away from Logan. Rogue starts crying since nobody trusts her and runs off. Suddenly the true culprit, Sauron, attacks from the sky.

In Alaska, Cyclops and Phoenix find their cabin covered with snow drifts. Much to Scott’s surprise, Jean is able to clear the snow easily; from above the shape of the cleared area resembles a giant bird image ...
