Owner's Description

"If Iceman Should Fail". With the X-Men trapped in a metal sphere headed into outer space and their certain doom, Magneto captures the parents of X-Man the Angel in a devious plot to use their DNA to create an army of mutants. Professor Xavier manages to free himself of the device inhibiting his telepathy and contact Iceman who is still recovering in the hospital. Having learned of Magneto's plans, Xavier tells Iceman to go to the school while he and the other X-Men try to free themselves of their metal prison. Iceman sabotages magneto's plans while Cyclops and Marvel Girl work together to bring their sphere back to Earth. During this time, Prof X realizes Magneto is too powerful for them to stop and contacts the alien Stranger to ask for his aid in stopping Magneto. With the Stranger at the side of the X-Men, Magneto has no choice but to abandon his plans and flee.<br /><br />I found this exceptional copy at the NY Comic-Con thanks to Doug Schmell. He introduced me to Steve Lauterbach of Investment Collectibles who was selling a bunch of super high-grade books and this book was one of them. One of only six graded at 9.6 and none graded higher, Doug admitted it was the finiest copy he had ever seen, nicer even than his Pac Coast copy, and should've been graded a 9.8.
