Owner's Description

The Huckleberry Hound show premiered on October 2, 1958. Huckleberry became on overnight World Famous success. It was sponsered by Kelloggs. Other stars of his show include the deou of Yogi Bear and Boo Boo as well as Pixie & Dixie and Mr. Jinx. The Huckleberry Hound show ran 4 season with a total of 69 episodes.<br /><br />Huckleberry Hound also quickly seized the day, jumping into comic books. His first book, Four Color #990 dated May, 1959. This was followed by another 42 issues in the Dell / Gold Key/ Whitman series. By the Christmas of 1960, many Huckleberry Hound products could be found.<br /><br />The Huckleberry Hound Kite Fun Book is dated 1961 and was distributed to school in the spring of 1961. It also happens to be the first Kite Fun Book that also featured Reddy Kilowatt. Electric utilites could order many promotional products from Reddy Kilowatt, Inc of New York City, including these Kite Fun Books. Their catalog shows an original price (to utilites) for these of about $15 per thousand. Don Christensen and Kellog Adams are noted as associated with the production of this book.<br /><br />A total of five variants of this book have been identified. The three that CGC has graded copy(s) of include Southern California Edison, Public Service Company of Colorado, as well as copies with blank indicia box. Variants from Pacific Gas and Electric and Wisconsin Power & Light are still waiting the grading of their first copy.<br /><br />This particulate comic is a CGC 4.5 (Very Good plus) with cream to off-white pages. It is the only graded copy from this utility.<br /><br />Image #2 shows a poster from this utility (Southern California Edison) used to promote this Kite Fun Book.<br /><br />
