Owner's Description

Hanna Barbera created the Magilla Gorilla show, which was offered out for syndication starting in January, 1963. It was originally sponsored by Ideal Toys. Other characters from the show include Punkin' Puss & Mushmouse, and Ricochet Rabbit & Droop-a-Long. Other than Magiila, the characters have mostly faded from the poplular culture. The original series ran 31 episodes<br /><br />Magilla Gorilla made a short trip into comics with his own gold key comic book which ran 9 issues between May, 1964 and Sept, 1966. A tenth issue came out later in December, 1968. He tried again with Charlton comics, with five issues in 1970 & 1971. In Magilla Gorilla #3, December 1964, he ran for president against Yogi Bear.<br /><br />The Magilla Gorilla Kite Fun Book was prepared in late 1964, with a 1964 copyright, and distributed to schools in the spring of 1965. Don Christensen and Kellog Adams are noted as associated with the production of this book.<br /><br />Currently, only Southern California Edison and Pacific Gas and Electric variants have been certified by CGC. At least two other variants, Potomac Edison System and a copy with a blank indicia box, exist. The SCE edition has six kite flying rules on the back cover, while all other variants have eight.<br /><br />This CGC 9.4 Near Mint with white to off white pages is the finer of two graded copies of the Pacific Gas and Electric Variant.
