Owner's Description

Dastardly & Muttley appeared in the Saturday morning cartoon show "Wacky Races," which premiered on CBS on September 14, 1968. They followed that with their own show "Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines" which premiered the following season, on Sept 13, 1969. The story in this Kite Fun Book would associate it with the later show.<br /><br />Dastardly & Muttley had their start in comics with the first issue of "Wacky Races" in August, 1969, published by Gold Key / Whitman comics. The series continued for 7 issues until 1972. They also appeared in Hanna-Barbera Fun-In #1-4 & #6 (1970-1) with stories of their flying adventures. A file copy of this Kite Fun Book is known dated 11/24/1969. <br /><br />This copy has a blank indicia box. Currently, Pacific Gas and Electric, Southern California Edison, and a generic version (blank indicia box) have been graded by CGC. Florida Power & Light and San Diego Gas & Electric have also been identified for this Kite Fun Book. <br /><br />One of the copies from the random house files had a Western library received stamp dated 11/24/1969, indicating that this book copyright 1969 was distributed to schools in the spring of 1970. Don Christensen and Kellog Adams are noted as associated with the production of this book.
