Owner's Description

Tweety Bird started a solo career in 1942 in the short cartoon A Tale of Two Kitties. His career continued with addional cartoons in 1944 and 1945, each time sharing with a different co-star. In 1947, his co-star was Sylvester in "Tweety Pie." The two worked well together, going on to make about 40 cartoon shorts through the 1950s.

Once this pair got together, the synergy of their work together propelled them also into comic books. Their first staring apperance in comics was in Four Color #406, June 1952. This was followed by two other Four color books, then Dell #4-37 and Gold Key/Whitman #1-121. A total of 158 issues running amazingly from 1952 to 1984. They also stared in several other giveaways and special isssues other than their most famous, the 1967 Tweety and Sylvester Kite Fun Book.

The 1982 Tweety and Sylvester is Kite Fun Book is something of a mystery. I couldn't find anything in writing about it or a price guide listing until after I found it on ebay. I have only ever seen two copies, and own them both. This book is copyright 1982, but with 1981 and 1983 still be unrepresented in the Kite Fun Book index, I am unable to tell if this was prepared in late 1981/early 1982 for a spring 1982 school giveaway, or late 1982/ early 1983 for a spring 1983 school giveaway. Perhaps another year waits to be discovered and shed light on the history of this book. Don Christensen is noted as having worked on this book, according to "Who's Who of American Comic Books 1928-1999."

Population Statistics (Southern California Edison): There are 2 copies in graded, of which this CGC 9.6 Near Mint plus with white pages is the finer. (6/3/2010)

What's inside? Can't tell you that, yet. Both of my copies are in CGC cases, so I will have the rest of the story after finding another one for purchase.
