This issue debuts Bucky as the new Captain America with a costume designed by Alex Ross (and in comic continuity, by Tony Stark and Bucky). The issue opens with an economic pandemic sweeping the nation as a result of the death of Aleksander Lukin, and we see that across the country, protestors are on the verge of rioting.

Meanwhile, we see Bucky and the Black Widow on their way to stop AIM and RAID from going after Wall Street's Gold Reserves as they discuss the costume, his weapons and the current circumstances with everything that's happening.

We get a truly amazing fight with the new Cap as he takes on AIM and RAID bad guys with the Widow as support, and we're shown just how different Bucky is from Steve Rogers through his internal narration.

Cut to Tony Stark talking with some US Government official, trying to make him believe that Lukin is not really dead and that he's actually the Red Skull attacking the US, which doens't go over very well.

Cut back to the new Cap as he wraps up taking care of the bad guys and we get a fantastic fighting finish to his debut, which I'd rather not spoil for people that haven't actually read the issue.

The issue ends as it cuts outside to the White House, and we discover that all of the missing SHIELD agents whose minds have been corrupted by Faustus under the direction of the Red Skull have been planted there, and they all open fire on a crowd of protestors, which of course, is caught by newscasters in the immediate area!

Personal Note:

It was always in the back of my mind that Bucky would probably be the one to take Cap's place ever since the idea was introduced in the series. I distinctly remember there being some sort of controversy as to the shiny-ness of the armor and the fact that the new Cap was armed with a gun. The gun is justified very adequately, and as you can see in the issue, the costume isn't blindingly shiny as it is on the Alex Ross cover. Overall, this issue was simply fantastic, and I'm sure that there's alot of people who are turning around to the idea of Bucky being the new Cap. He's definately not Steve Rogers, but in many ways that what makes him even more interesting as Cap, especially given their ties and history together.
