Since its inception, the series has been nominated and received numerous awards for Best Writer and Best Ongoing Series, Art Team, etc..
IGN has continually given the book top praises every issue since it began 2005 and continues to give awards for to the book for it's character development, the consistent art and the continuing quality of writing. Wizard picked it as the top series of 2005. The quality of both the book and the art has been consistent since the first issue, and I am very glad that the series has received as much exposure as it has.
2007 was a huge year for the book, as the title has remained outstanding for its continued success even with the death of the main character and receives much recognition for the moment of Cap's death and its affect on the Marvel Universe.
I believe that this run has truly elevated Captain America's status in Marvel and in Comics as a whole with it's epic storyline and its instant "classic" appeal.
Captain America has been my favorite character since I got into comics in the 90's, just as volume 1 was finishing and I'm very glad to see him being portrayed the way he has been with such a solid creative team.
Here is my attempt to collect the ongoing series in high grade cgc with No books less than a grade of 9.6. Worth mentioning about this series is that many of the early issues are extremely difficult to find in NM+/M condition due to numerous printing defects on several issues, and the tendancy of the paper used for the covers/interiors to have defects or get damaged. If you check the cgc census numbers, you'll also see that many of the early issues have very low submission numbers.
I'm also including pics from my raw collection, as with each issue from 1-24, I have had them signed by various members of the entire creative team (Brubaker, Epting, Perkins, Lark and D'Armata).
I'm very proud of the Captain America collection that I have put together for this series and I hope you enjoy checking it out.
