Lee Enterprises's Bio
My first comic memories include watching Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends on Saturday mornings when I was 7 years old and then saving lawn mowing money to search long boxes at B&D Comics and the Paperback Exchange; both in Roanoke, VA. Spider-Man has always been my favorite character, but I watched all the 80s cartoons and that shaped my collecting interests in various Marvel, DC and independent titles. I was a part-time comic dealer for a number of years at local shows and then on eBay, but I sold most of my collection and inventory right when the Marvel movies were starting to come out (perfect timing...oof). I've worked on rebuilding my collection with a lot of my favorite issues and other key books that I always wanted. The hobby has become VERY expensive so I focus mostly on relatively high grades and nice eye appeal. I have a large graded sports card collection too so I frequently bounce back and forth between it and comics, using one or the other to trade my way up to new items I see. My main collecting goal is an Amazing Spider-Man 1-328 + annuals CGC run, which is starting to take shape. I've also started a Green Lantern 1-89 run all CGC 9.4 or higher (although the early issues will have to include some compromises on that 9.4 or higher goal). I really love a lot of the early Silver-Age Green Lantern covers. I have started many more title sets that I'm working on slowly as I see high grade issues become available. I also collect Stan Lee Signature Series books. I really believe that Stan Lee was a creative genius and I just "marvel" at all that he and the other key writers and artists like Kirby, Ditko and Romita, among many others, left us with to enjoy. Fortunately, I have a large collection of Marvel Masterworks and other DC reprint volumes so that I can read the original stories since most of what I own is trapped inside CGC holders. Comic collecting is a great hobby that instantly transports me back to my childhood. It reminds me of a simpler time. Happy collecting!
