The Gravenhorst's's Bio
I dedicate my collecting to Coins of The Civil War 1860-1865, Commemoratives and Seated Silver coins. My Great Great Grandfather JOSEPH GRAVENHORST fought for the Union Army 14th Regiment Illinois L Company. He entered as a Private and left a Private. Then he entered The 37th Regiment Infantry, A Company. He entered the Infantry as a Sgt. and left a 1st Sgt. I There was also a Black man with his name, one would assume this name he used was his master's name He was awarded a medal. There was also a Confederate with the Fire battalion with the Louisiana Militia, his name was Th. Gravenhorst, this could have been a cousin of Joseph. Our name Gravenhorst there is 5 different Gravenhorst's in The Civil War 4 for The Union and 1 Confederate. This is a truly unique time in America's History. Lincoln was the only president to invade his own country. I'm not a big fan of Lincoln. I'm convinced The South was Right!!!!!!!!!!!!!
