Bigfiver691's Bio
My name is Brian Sheppard, and I live in Ontario, Canada. I came out of the womb and unapologetic collector (some would say packrat) but I knew early that comics - specifically war comics - would be my lifelong love. In the early 1970s, I discovered my older brother's trove of DC war comics, and even though I couldn't even read I was completely beguiled by them. I started collecting them myself when I turned 7, the first book I remember actually buying being Sgt. Rock #308. In the years to follow, I bought every DC war comic I could. When I entered my teens, I stopped collecting - but I wisely packaged my books up to preserve them. Then, about 7 years ago, I returned to collecting in a big way. My initial goal was to complete all the bronze age DC war titles in VF or better. I finished this goal in 2006, amassing a pretty decent silver age war collection along the way. My current direction is to complete the Our Army at War run from #188 to #301 (basically, the span of the Bronze Age) in an average grade of CGC 9.4 - it's been difficult acquiring these books, but so far it has been a very rewarding experience. As far as grail books go if anyone has truly sharp 9.4 copies of Our Army at War #245 or G.I. Combat #141, raw or slabbed, please contact me.
