I'm a 49-year-old Computer Programmer/Analyst. I'm married, have 2 daughters, and 2 stepdaughters. In short, I'm surrounded by gorgeous ladies... :-) Not a bad thing at all...
I've been collecting coins since I was 11, and still have my first "collectible" coin, a 1909-VDB Lincoln Cent. After 36 years, it's worth about 20 percent more than what I paid for it with my Mom in 1971, which goes to prove that coins are not always a wise investment... :-)
Wise or not, coins have always fascinated me. When I hold an old coin in my hand, I try to envision what it could have purchased back when it was minted, and in the case of circulated coins, who might have also held it in their hand all those years ago.
I've found my membership in The Collector's Society to be quite an enlightening experience, and have met online quite a few people whose Coin knowledge and general intellect I have great respect for. This has been a wonderful learning experience for me, and has really opened my eyes as far as expanding the directions that my own collection has taken.
