JDP's Coins's Bio
I have been interested in and collecting coins since my grandfather introduced me to the hobby. Like most kids, I started with pennies I could find. I recall hours spent with pencil and graph paper logging my collection and what I still needed. Looking back to where I began and reflecting upon what I had accumulated, I am continuously amazed at what I had accomplished by the time I graduated high school. In 1982, my collection was stolen and along with the coins, my desire to rebuild. I never lost the interest and enjoyment of the hobby, but chose to merely let it go. Seems there was still a spark glowing and about 1998, I started collecting actively again. It wasn't until 2000 when I purchased my first certified coin, that I looked upon the hobby once again with a passion. About a year later, I made the decision to collect only certified coins. That's not to say that I don't buy raw coins and submit myself, but they don't stay that way for a great length of time. I became a purist with PCGS due to reputation, and I like their holders better than any other company's I've seen. Sorry NGC... it's just me. My collection includes all U.S. Coins to some extent, Great Britain - primarily gold with some early silver thrown in, and Canada's Maple Leaf's. I enjoy hearing from anyone regarding any of my sets either here or from the PCGS Registry. I answer all e-mails, so don't be shy. I've learned a lot from other collectors and have enjoyed helping others learn about this fascinating hobby.
