Cal Gold "Token" Guy's Bio
Cal Gold "Token" Guy
I have been collecting coins for about 50 years, starting in North Dakota getting coins out of relatives' change (Indian Head Cents, Buffalo Nickels, and when I could worm it out of them, the occasional Standing Liberty Quarter or Barber Half Dollar).
I have put together several collections in the last few decades, usually selling them when I need a quick bit of money to buy something important (a motorcycle was the last important purchase).
I now specialize in Cal Gold Tokens, particularly the Arms of California and Miner with Pick types, although I also enjoy the various Indian Head types.
I learned much of what I know from Mike Locke who is an expert on California Gold Tokens (check out his website).
Cal Gold Tokens are a bit tricky to collect as they have been replicated for many years, even in recent years. But, the Arms and Miner pieces have yet to experience this problem and are a lot of fun to collect. Besides, they don't take up much room.
