THIS cover was amazing, it was so simple, so eloquent, so original. At least that is what I thought. The book came out in 1991 and I can't remember if I knew about The X-Men #138. I have to imagine that this was my first cover swipe purchase. Rob Liefeld created another character called Feral. Sunspot leaves the New Mutants and only one issue was left. on a lot of recent books I see a lot of artists sign their name along with an "After" comment. As I sit here looking at this book, for the first time I noticed that in the lower right hand corner it says "After Byrne". Maybe one day I will be able to ask Liefeld about it, why he wrote it.
My original issue was turned over with the hope of whatever grade they get I'd be happy with, from my New Mutants #1, which was a 6.0, and towards the end my issue 99 received a 9.8. From the beginning to end, the New Mutants was a true testimonial from the beginning to end, from how my collection changed from something read over and over again to something that were cherished and valuable.
