My take on Thor #1:
The infamous betrayal of a friend. A soft-spoken whisper that changed the course of history forever. Mjolnir sits alone on the surface of the moon. No God is deemed worthy of its power. But a mortal, a mysterious young woman with the belief that “there must always be a Thor” makes her worthy to pick up Mjolnir. Her humanity. Her belief in the goodness of all things. And her willingness to sacrifice, defend, and fight for the oppress and the weak sings to Mjolnir. Together, "they" becomes the new "Thor."
All hail "Thor, Goddess of Thunder!"

Okay, another variant. And I’m happy with the price. It’s a lot cheaper than what I can buy the “regular” issuance for right now. It just pays to look around and not be afraid of offering a reasonable price from what’s listed. From there, you and the owner can haggle back and forth until you reach an agreeable price. That’s the American way.
Subtotal (1 item) $75.99
Shipping $9.99
Alabama State Sales Tax $6.08
Order total $92.06

I was in a bidding war for another graded copy of this issue—but when I found this listed, I immediately went over and offered the owner a price. To my surprise, "turner36" accepted my bid. I dropped out of the bidding on the other and promptly paid for this excellent copy (my last bid on the “other” was $75.99. Their shipping was $10).
I accomplished my goal of getting issue #1 and #8 first; not bad. Both are variants (surprisingly). I have nothing against “variants.” It’s just that most of the time they’re going to be HIGHER in price than the “regular” issuance.

The Official Synopsis for Thor #1:
The great hammer of MJOLNIR lies on the moon, unable to be lifted by anyone in all the heavens! Even Thor!—Something dark has befallen the God of Thunder, leaving him weakened and for the first time in forever…UNWORTHY! But when frost giants invade the Earth, the hammer is lifted, and an all-new THOR arises! A Thor unlike any ever seen before!
Who is this new GODDESS OF THUNDER? Not even Odin knows!

Disney has come out and said the next “Thor” movie will have Jane Foster picking up Mjolnir. She will carry on the tradition of there being a Thor. It will be fun to see a “Goddess of Thunder” on the big screen like there was in the comics.
It will be interesting to see how "Thor: Love and Thunder" (Disney Movie / Marvel MCU starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Taika Waititi) will affect the price of this issue.
Just a side note: A CGC 9.8 copy (unsigned) was listed on ebay for $349.95 on the day I purchased my copy.

Update:
Bought a second copy (#2074054021). Another bid, another win. This copy cost me about half of what I paid for the first one. It was graded 9 days (10-07-2019) before the one I have listed here (10-16-2019).

I can’t tell you why I bought it; not exactly. I saw it up for auction and just decided to bid on it. I won. Now, I possess 2 of the 38 copies available (unsigned)—with “raw” comics I buy, I usually get 2 copies…just in case 1 gets messed up or damage. I also have been known to swap/trade/sell the extra copy for another comic I’m interested in. Maybe that’s why I bought this copy…who knows.
A week ago, I didn’t own a single #1 issuance, now I have 2 of the same variants (not complaining mind you)—go figure the luck of that happening. Both were bought way under market value in my opinion.
I will be posting the second copy in another set which I will be naming: “Jane Foster, 2nd Go Around”
