SET DETAILS
Owner's Description
Psycho serial killer on the loose or simply someone having a bad day and trying to kill the Batman merely out of frustration? Of course, I did not think this when I saw this issue on the shelf of my favorite newwstand but I am certain I thought that this was another fantastic cover. To begin, and end with, the setting alone makes the cover: Batman, fog (I prefer to think of it as fog and not smog) and, of course, "The KILLER IN THE SMOG."
Naturally, I could not wait to read this issue after purchasing my usual number of copies (no wonder I started running out of "comic book storage space" in the 1980s). Having read a reader copy a few years ago it was clear to me that I enjoyed this issue as much as I did when first reading it. Granted, since it is a Detective Comics issues I am "somewhat" biased. But nevertheless, it is a great book in every way.
Keeper, until I locate a typical CGC graded 9.8 copy; one of two CGC graded 9.6 Murphy Anderson File Copies was added to this set in January 2020. Now for that 9.8 copy.
Issue Credits (as per the CGC Universal Label):
Frank Robbins story
Dick Giordano cover
Dick Dillin, Dick Giordano, Don Heck, and Murphy Anderson art
Issue Note (as per the CGC Universal Label):
Jason Bard backup story.
