This issue features the 1st appearance of Beilert Valance (who was commonly known as Valance the Hunter).
Valance was a bounty hunter characterized as having an extreme hatred towards droids. A page explained Valance’s origin as an Imperial Stormtrooper that happened to be seriously injured. He was rebuilt as a cyborg (with way more mechanical components as opposed to original organic tissue). Valance’s hatred of droids was fueled by a hatred of his being mostly mechanical components.
This was the 1st issue to not to feature any of the core original trilogy characters (with the exception of a single page flashback).
