Owner's Description
Weird Science #19 is referenced in Fredric Wertham’s “Seduction of the Innocent” (SOTI) as illustrations #22, #23, and #24. Wertham captioned these illustrations “A young woman on her wedding night stabs her sleeping husband to death with a hatpin when she realizes that he comes from a distant planet and is a ‘mammal’”.
These illustrations come from three panels (panel 1, 3, and 5) on the last page of the story “Right on the Button” contained in Weird Science #19. The story tells a tale of a young woman working for a government agency trying to identify alien space invaders who exactly resemble the native population of the planet. In her private life, the woman is recently married and goes on her honeymoon. During the first night with her new husband, she notices that he has a navel and this is a sure give-a-way that he is one of the alien invaders as her species reproduces by laying eggs.
