This was an exciting launch back at the end of 2004. I remember it clearly and being excited to see Adi Granov graduate from cover art across volume three and into the regular series artist here with sci-fi master, Warren Ellis helming the story. Over the years I interviewed both creators at various Chicago area conventions for the Advanced Iron fanzine. There was real excitement for this run.
The pacing was great and it read like a Summer Blockbuster was unfolding on the page instead of on-screen. The art was on point and when an armored up Iron Man shows up it's actually exciting to see. Unfortunately the book later suffered form significant delays and when Extremis finally showed up on screen the concept and characters were chewed up pretty badly in the pretty awful "Iron Man 3". But we will always have this great six-issue run in-print which began here with a solid first issue with poster-quality cover art.
