Issue #23 introduces a rather unique foe, the Tattooed Man, who is a sailor whose tattoos become reality once he touches them. He obtained his powers one day while breaking into a science lab and finding a special ink that turns whatever is drawn with it into reality. After defeating Green Lantern when he attempts to stop a robbery in their first encounter, GL manages to anticipate the Tattooed Man’s maneuvers and is able to catch him and turn him over to the police.
Our WP 9.8 is one of two highest graded copies as of January 2021. We just happen to own the other one as well, which was formerly the single highest graded. All of our duplicates are available for trades BTW. We acquired this book from a friend in a private transaction in 2020.*
As an aside, our run from #17-23 is probably our best in any collection, as we have the single highest graded issues #17, #18, #19, and #22, one of two highest graded copies of issue #20 and both of the two highest graded copies of #21 and #23. Unfortunately, the run comes to a screaming halt with #24.
