One of the special issues in the collection in that it features a guest appearance of Spidey. 9.8s in this book are fairly common (there are seven as of 12/2020), but this one is the Pacific Coast copy. It was also part of the Doug Schmell Collection auctioned off by Heritage in July 2012, but we acquired the book later in the December 2016 CL auction.*
We at one time also owned a WP 9.8 copy of this issue, but elected to keep this one and sell the WP example when we needed to raise money. It is a choice I have often faced whether to retain a OW/W Pacific Coast Pedigree copy or a WP non-pedigree one. All other things being equal, we have generally opted for pedigree over page quality, but I know many collectors who always prefer white pages.*
LOL, I just noticed that the narrative above is no longer true, so I guess this book received a page upgrade when it was reholdered-I need to update the pic. But the issue has come up quite a few times and I know the market is now saying to always choose a WP example over a Pedigree. That was not the choice I made many times in the past, especially when the book bore a Pacific Coast Pedigree. I never claimed to be the smartest tool in the tool box LOL.
