Favorite line and some thoughts:
"This ring. It...disturbs me."
-Balder the Brave
Well, it turns out Malekith pulled the 'ol switcheroo on everyone and that Balder never made it back to Asgard for his coronation. Someone should really rethink the whole "The Dungeon of No Escape" moniker. The main action of the book--Balder and Thor's encounter with a remote enchanted castle--resembles a standard trope in Arthurian literature. Balder, like so many of the knights of the Round Table, simply can't pass up a good adventure. Luckily Cher, his girlfriend, gave him a sweet ring to remind him of her. That and his best friend is the God of Thunder.
More interesting is the release of Andrew "Thug" Thatcher from prison, where he has languished since 1962! Talk about a deep pull. No one had seen Thug since Journey into Mystery no. 89.
Journeyman Sal did his best here to follow Walt's style, even in the urban architecture of Asgard, but Walt is a tough act to follow. That said Sal has his moments, including the splash of Thor on horseback before the floating castle.
