Owner's Description

"The Haunted Beach!" What? There's a war/adventure story about a haunted beach? Shit yeah! Oh, that's right, I'm supposed to be talking about cover art. Well - this gem by Bill Ely is damn fine. Really it is one of the best covers in the latter half of the series and is just damn awesome from every angle. The washtone sky really sets the feel of the beachhead, the strong diagonal implies movement, the bright golden yellow armor of our hero focuses attention where it belongs, details are well rendered - there's really nothing to dislike about this cover. It reeks awesomeness from every angle. Even the word balloon and the use of "Blazes" as a swear word. The army guy in the near foreground might be my favorite - because he's paused and staring at the Roman, but he's got an unpinned grenade in his hand. It's just too much awesome from every angle.
Overall - are you kidding me? This could be one of the best adventure book covers ever. Just take my twelve cents and let me read about this Nazi slaying Roman Legionnaire!
