Synopsis:
The story begins with Alfred recounting his adventures with Batman and sharing his experience working with the vigilante. Batman had noticed that someone had been drawing lines of chalk across Gotham, later realizing that it had been what was apparently him dead, later bringing him to Crime Alley, where his parents were murdered. When he had arrived in Crime Alley, he saw a young boy on his knees with an umbrella. When he saw the boy, he saw that his body had been decomposed. Suddenly, he activated a mechanism trap built into the boy, getting shot by a revolver in the boy's hand.
Next thing Bruce knew, he was in Arkham Asylum, next to a doctor named Redmund Hudd, who claimed that they had both been there for almost twenty years. Upon this revelation, Bruce panicked and demanded to be released, until Alfred had appeared in the room and was delighted to see him. Alfred claimed that Bruce had killed his parents in Crime Alley, causing the latter to break down, not believing that it was real, implying that it was a trick by Mad Hatter or Scarecrow. Then, Alfred left, while Bruce was sent to solitary confinement.
Later, Alfred returned to visit Bruce again and brought him back his cowl, which was now combined with an Arkham inmate uniform. Suddenly, Bruce asked for Alfred to give him the suit.
