Owner's Description

Daredevil #68 features a phenomenal Marie Severin & Syd Shores cover!

Overstreet 2023 NM- 9.2 value = $60.

From the Oregon Coast Collection!

According to the CGC Census Report as of Tuesday, August 22, 2023, out of a total of 98 Universal copies graded, only 10 copies were graded in 9.8 with 0 copies graded higher!

With these statistics in mind, this represents an impressive rarity factor of only 10.20% of the total population!
___________________________________________________________

Published in September of 1970, Marie Severin (penciller) & Syd Shores (inker) rendered a stunning early Bronze Age Daredevil cover!

In a rare depiction of Daredevil dressed in boxing gear after changing in a locker room, it is difficult not to reflect on Daredevil’s origin story, which includes his father’s controversial boxing career—hence setting the visual stage for the “like father, like son” theme!

In the background, we even see Kragg and his goons busting through a wooden door with pistols in their hands, which is also reminiscent of corrupt boxing promoter (Roscoe Sweeney) and his henchmen, who shot and killed Daredevil’s father shortly after his final and rigged boxing match!

Furthermore, the aesthetically pleasing bright yellow background really brings out the brown wooden floor, the gray locker, the green publication text box (upper left-hand corner) and Daredevil’s red mask and title logo! THE COLORS LOOK EXTREMELY VIBRANT—like the book was just printed yesterday, yet it is now over “52” years old!

This immaculate looking copy is from the Oregon Coast Collection! The only reason CGC could not recognize this collection as a “Pedigree,” is because the books were primarily published from 1969-1975!

However, within this 7-year timeframe, the Oregon Coast Collection contains some of the brightest, perfectly wrapped and centered and highest-graded copies of NEARLY EVERY MARVEL & DC ISSUE PUBLISHED!

In closing, I purchased this PERFECTLY WRAPPED & CENTERED copy from Heritage Auctions in March of 2022! I am super proud to own this pristine copy and look forward to watching it appreciate each year!

Happy Collecting & Enjoy the Hunt!
