Owner's Description

Daredevil #177 features the 2nd appearance of Stick + Daredevil’s origin is retold!

Overstreet 2023 NM- 9.2 value = $35.

According to the CGC Census Report as of Tuesday, August 22, 2023, out of a total of 424 Universal copies graded, only 132 copies were graded in 9.8 with ONLY 1 copy graded higher in 9.9!

With these statistics in mind, this represents a rarity factor of 31.13% of the total population.

However, this is the much RARER Newsstand Edition Variant, which means that you can estimate that ONLY 2-4% of all 9.8s are Newsstand Edition copies!
___________________________________________________________

Published in December of 1981, Daredevil #177 presents a unique and different Frank Miller cover, as a 7-eyed gigantic dragon is attempting to swallow Daredevil whole!

Furthermore, Frank Miller continues to be creative by editing “The Man Without Fear” underneath the Daredevil logo, which in this case reads: Daredevil …“IN HIS STRANGEST ADVENTURE!”

Due to how bizarre the cover appears in relation to all of Miller’s previous issues, the comic dialogue bubble towards the bottom right-hand corner informs the reader:

YES, WE DID…WE DARED TO PUBLISH THIS, THE MOST OFFBEAT STORY OF THE YEAR!

Therefore, I love Frank Miller! He is never scared to take risks and think outside the box! He certainly knew how to market and promote his vivid imagination to build interest and curiosity in what lies beneath the pages!

In closing, I purchased this PERFECTLY WRAPPED & CENTERED Newsstand Edition Variant copy from Comic Link’s Focused Auction in March of 2022! I am super proud to own this immaculate copy and look forward to watching it appreciate each year!

Happy Collecting & Enjoy the Hunt!
