Owner's Description

Daredevil #158 features the start of Frank Miller’s Daredevil run (as the series’ new artist) + the origin & “death” of Death-Stalker!

Overstreet 2023 NM- 9.2 value = $175.

According to the CGC Census Report as of Tuesday, August 22, 2023, out of a total of 2,813 Universal copies graded, only 178 copies were graded in 9.8 with 0 copies graded higher!

With these statistics in mind, this represents an impressive rarity factor of only 6.33% of the total population!
___________________________________________________________

When you think of the Daredevil title and discuss all the legendary artists who made significant contributions, it is impossible without mentioning Frank Miller’s name!

Prior to Daredevil #158, Frank Miller began his journey with penciling “The Man Without Fear” in Spectacular Spider-Man #27, which was published in February of 1979! He continued his work with drawing Daredevil in Spectacular Spider-Man #28, which led into Miller finally getting the opportunity to create his 1st Daredevil cover on Daredevil #158!

This CLASSIC Frank Miller Bronze Age cover looks awesome! Daredevil is depicted in an eerie graveyard setting in which a gigantic tombstone reads: “REST IN PEACE DAREDEVIL,” with his gravesite hollowed in the ground and Death-Stalker teleporting through his tombstone from behind! With a huge full moon illuminating the midnight sky with a purple background, this is one of the most appealing and sought-after Daredevil covers in the entire run!

Moreover, although Frank Miller was able to take over the title as the cover and interior artist beginning with issue #158, just ten issues later, he would also take over the title as both the artist AND the writer in Daredevil #168! This Frank Miller shift is responsible for the more mature Daredevil stories and characters that we have seen both in comics and on the popular streaming series!

The value for this late Bronze Age Daredevil Key has been trending upwards in all grades! It is important to note that although there is a current total of 174 CGC 9.8 copies, it is exceedingly RARE to find a copy that is PERFECTLY WRAPPED & CENTERED like this GEM!

In closing, I purchased this PERFECTLY WRAPPED & CENTERED copy from atlcollections (via eBay) in April of 2022! I am super proud to own this immaculate copy and look forward to watching it appreciate each year!

Happy Collecting & Enjoy the Hunt!
