Overstreet 2023 NM- 9.2 value = $34.

According to the CGC Census Report as of Tuesday, August 22, 2023, out of a total of 565 Universal copies graded, only 89 copies were graded in 9.8 with 0 copies graded higher!

With these statistics in mind, this represents a rarity factor of 15.75% of the total population.
___________________________________________________________

After taking over the title as both the artist and writer in Daredevil #168, one of Frank Miller’s major moves was integrating the Kingpin within the Daredevil title (who was originally introduced as a Spider-Man villain in Amazing Spider-Man #50) and making him the undisputed heavyweight arch enemy to Daredevil! Although Bullseye is also one of Daredevil’s archrivals and matches his fighting skills and acrobatic abilities; the Kingpin becomes the mastermind behind all of New York City’s underground crime scenes, and therefore Bullseye is hired as one of his top assassins!

With that said, as depicted on the beautiful Frank Miller (penciller) & Klaus Janson (inker) cover, which was published in May of 1981, the Kingpin makes his grand debut in the Daredevil title! However, he does not meet Daredevil until the following issue! Instead, Miller created two separate storylines for Daredevil & the Kingpin in Daredevil #170, which led them to cross paths for the 1st time in Daredevil #171!

This is of major significance, as the Kingpin—played by actor Vincent D’Onofrio, starred as the main Daredevil villain in the critically acclaimed Marvel Daredevil Streaming Series (2015-2018)! Therefore, Daredevil #170-#172 represents the initial Daredevil Vs. Kingpin trilogy; brought to life by Frank Miller, which helped to evolve the storylines to appeal to a broader audience with darker and more mature street level content!

Moreover, although the CGC label does not highlight this historical information, Daredevil #170 can be considered a significant KEY issue within the iconic Frank Miller run, as it represents the 1st appearance of the Kingpin within the Daredevil title and the first time in which the Kingpin’s name is revealed to be Wilson Fisk!

In closing, I purchased this PERFECTLY WRAPPED & CENTERED copy from Comic Link’s Focused Auction in May of 2022! I am super proud to own this immaculate copy and look forward to watching it appreciate each year!

Happy Collecting & Enjoy the Hunt!
