Owner's Description

This cover brings all of the major characters into the image and shows the real Superman busting back onto the scene. I love that Black Suit!

I bought my Universal 9.8 copy of this book on eBay for $52.00 when I originally got my competitive set to 100 percent completion, and later added this Signature Series 9.8 signed by Kerry Gammill to my collection. I reholdered this book in December 2020. I was really worried when I sent my ss books in for reholdering... particularly this one, as the signature ink looked thick and I was worried it may lift off. All went well though, thank goodness!

Shattered Steel!

And as if this slot wasn’t cool enough…

I have included a sericel (that also has a cool signature) from SDCC 2007 in the second image slot. This was done by Warner Bros Animation and was limited to 200. This ended up being the second to the last time (so far) that my Wife and I attended SDCC. The last (so far) ended up being in 2008. We actually had tickets to the 2009 SDCC but I received orders overseas, so we ended up being able to get a refund. We were then overseas for four years straight, and then assigned to Florida before I got out of the Marine Corps in 2014. We have been back through San Diego since then but haven't made any serious plans to try to make it to SDCC. From what I understand, it has become really difficult to get tickets. We eventually made it a habit to go for the entire weekend, as well as preview night, but I do remember the first time we went we were able to show up Saturday and buy tickets for the day, I think those days are long gone. When we got this sericel I think Bruce Timm only signed 20 of them and, as you can see, we were able to obtain one of those. I included it here because I think both of these signed items show the difficulty of Superman's struggle through different stages of this story... he literally died fighting Doomsday and had to return to life! I don't think they have ever done the Death of Superman story justice in animation (including the recent two-part Death and Reign movies) but this sericel is still pretty cool.
