Ebay June 2023 win. I had a Massachusetts pedigree in 9.2, that I didn't intend on winning. I thought I would be outbid, but I wasn't and my bid of $36 was enough to bring it home. I kept a look out for a higher grade and a few years later this copy showed up on Ebay. While it is not the highest graded on the CGC Census, it is tied with 7 others for second highest. The predominantly black cover does keep the number of 9.8's down...maybe the popularity of the Metal Men had an impact on surviving HG copies too?
The Metal Men did have their own title, but it had stopped in December 1969 due to declining sales. Eventually they would try and restart the series in 1976, but it was cancelled finally in 1978.
This issue marked a return to a non 52 pager format, so no reprinted stories were included as extra stories from this point forward.
