Story Title: The Rise and Fall of the Shi’ar Empire: Chapter Eleven - The End Of All That Is

Synopsis: Major-General Ka’ardum delivers a final message for help in defeating D’Ken’s forces. He is uneasy about risking everything to save Charles Xavier, but he is alone in his view. The watching Emperor D’Ken is annoyed, but still figures they outnumber the general two to one. He heads off to his sister’s marriage ceremony undaunted. The M’Kraan Crystal is being used as the backdrop to Vulcan’s marriage to Deathbird, and Vulcan has plans for it. Charles Xavier is taken to the crystal and chained prior to his death. Darwin goes with him, but is shackled and helpless. Watching the ceremony on television are the X-Men and the Starjammers, who are preparing for battle. As the marriage is finalized, the battle begins as the resistance begins an all-out attack on the Shi’ar forces under the newly-crowned emperor, D’Ken. The X-Men keep Gladiator busy, as Nightcrawler teleports in and tries to rescue Charles. Unfortunately, Vulcan spots him and blasts Kurt, taking Charles to the crystal. He then hurls Charles inside the M’Kraan Crystal, and Darwin follows him, calling Vulcan a stupid jerk as he does so. Lilandra is grabbed by D’Ken, who gloats on his forthcoming victory, but Vulcan has other ideas. He blasts D’Ken, asking if he ever thought he would serve beneath him and be his brother. He melts D’Ken’s face off and picks up his crown. Before an audience of stunned onlookers, Vulcan places the crown on his head and proclaims himself Emperor of the Shi’ar Imperium.
