Owner's Description
Wanted Comics #12 is referenced in Fredric Wertham’s “Seduction of the Innocent” (SOTI) in the text on page 277.
On page 277, Wertham describes Canadian work to identify objectionable comics and notes research performed by Mrs. T.W.A. Gray, Chairman of a special committee of the Victoria and District Parent Council. He notes the following example from her research “She reported these samples from one comic book:
1) As the American army is returning home, and the flag is going by, an old gentlemen asks three men to remove their hats. They reply: ‘If he’s so patriotic he might as well die for his country’, and one of them stabs the old man to death.
2) An honest alderman tries to protect the public and is killed. The hero says: ‘Bullets are better than ballots!’ And the commentator says: ‘Ah! That impulsive boy! He’s absolutely fearless! Why can’t everyone be like that!’”
Both noted examples come from the story “The Trigger Happy Trio” contained in Wanted Comics #12.
