Owner's Description
Well, this is the end of an era - but we're going out with a bang!
This 48-page anniversary issue brings just about all of our plotlines to a conclusion! The Black Cat learns about her powers and Spidey decides to go toe-to-toe against the
Kingpin!
Let's face it, in the end it's always the Kingpin left on top pulling all the strings. But wait, the
alien symbiote
is still out there and so is the
Spot!
Did the Spot own these last two covers or what? Milgrom really did his best one more time to get all the players in the spotlight (PUN!) but still give the issue some life and context. The number as a thing on the front is fun! Not a complete black background, but much of it is and the edges are all extremely dark. I'll take this new slab and WHITE PAGES all day!
We don't end up seeing the Spot for a long time, years even! Actually, we'll see him in the 90's Spidey cartoon before in actual issues and then again in the "Spider-Verse" movies where he REALLY became popular. The symbiote's story continues in Web Of Spidey #1 and we all know how that turns out! The Kingpin ends up having a run in with this Daradevil guy, leaves town for a bit, but comes back for another Gang War over in the ASM titles. Felecia hangs around here and her relationship with Peter goes through changes but they always seem to be there for each other.
This is the last continuous issue that Al Milgrom is on art even though he has help on this one, but it's his last cover and story. Peter David will take over in a few issues (#106) and have his first and very good run next. However this was one hell of a ride and I'm happy to have as man issues of these that I do in my collection as readers and these high grade copies too.
Key Comments: Black Cat, Kingpin & Spot appearance.
