Owner's Description
Crime Exposed #2 is referenced in Fredric Wertham’s “Seduction of the Innocent” (SOTI) in the text on page 182.
Beginning on page 181, Wertham describes how a woman’s high heels create sexual fantasies for men and how these “fetichistic [sic] tendencies” spill over into comics. On page 182, he goes on to note a specific example “In one comic book with a story on ‘the man who shanghaied more than 1,000 men from the San Francisco docks,’ there is suddenly – unrelated to the story – an illustration showing large in the foreground only the lower part of a girl’s legs, in net stockings and very high-heeled red shoes”.
Wertham’s example comes from the story “Shanghaied” contained in Crime Exposed #2 published by Marvel (2/1951).
