Story Title: The Goldilocks Syndrome! (or: "Who's been sleeping in my head?")

The New Mutants are relaxing at the School, watching a TV show when the X-Men crash into the room looking for Charles Xavier. The newbies mistakenly think they are under attack and try to stop them.

Cannonball takes on Collosus, Psyche takes on Cyclops, Wolfsbane takes on Nightcrawler and Sunspot and Karma take on Wolverine. Kitty Pride sneaks in upstairs and finds the Professor in his study.

The X-men have figured out that a Brood Queen is growing in Charles and will possibly become unbeatable if fully grown with his abilities.

As the battle continues downstairs, Kitty is thrown across the room and Charles presents himself. He then completes his transformation into a Brood Queen and attacks everyone.

The New Mutants and the X-Men work together and, when Injured in the battle, the Queen tries to flee only to be stopped by both Binary and Storm. They take the injured Queen to the Starjammer in Earth orbit.

While Charles/Brood Queen undergoes a risky DNA/cloning procedure, the others roam the ship. Cyclops and Corsair have a touching father/son moment, then Gladiator shows up to meet with Empress Lilandra (Charles' love interest).

Gladiator informs her of her treacherous sister (Deathbird) and how mad she is, and of Reed Richards restoration of Galactus to health. A very upset Lilandra projects her image to the Fantastic Four and warns them of their responsibility - and future punishment - if Galactus should destroy any worlds capable of supporting life.

Back on the Starjammer, Professor X Is whole again, and even better, can stand up and walk for the first time in 15 years, but his mind is still trying to act like he can't stand and he falls. The others assure him that with time, this will stop.

Charles Xavier is now the happy Professor of two mutant teams....... life is good!

PERSONAL COMMENTS:

OHWOWOHWOWOHWOW!! The X-Men & the New Mutants goin' at it! This was one of the events I was hoping to see.

Charles finally transforming into the Brood Queen was scary at first. I remember thinking, "Well crud, that's the end of Prof X"!

This was my 1st encounter with the Starjammers & Lilandra, who I was not aware even existed. I was still new to all this Marvel mutant universe. The cloning thing was interesting to me at the time. Was this really the Prof or some sort of non-perfect copy? He COULD walk now (sort of), so it couldn't be all bad.

This was the 1st actual X-men comic book I ever read! I continued to collect them after this & went on to learn all about the different characters.
