Synopsis:
Outside the School for Gifted Youngsters, the X-Men play a friendly game of baseball, with Colossus preparing to hit Nightcrawler’s pitch. He hits the ball hard and Jean is forced to recover it, using her telekinesis. Piotr runs for base and plows into Wolverine, who isn’t happy at coming second best at anything. Moira MacTaggert heads inside to meet the telephone repair engineer and answers the door to a man with a badly scarred face. She shows him to the junction box, but is shot with a dart, which knocks her out. The man, Warhawk, is on a mission and goes to work on the mansion’s computers, realigning their programming. He suddenly reels in pain, as a mysterious man he calls the master mentally attacks him. He warns Warhawk that if he doesn’t serve him well, he’ll pay with his life. Before long, the remaining X-Men head inside and Warhawk knocks out both Jean and Professor Xavier too. The other X-Men have a Danger Room workout, but Warhawk traps them inside and uses the room against them. They work well together but are running out of time. Cyclops asks Nightcrawler to teleport Wolverine outside to shut the program down. Wolverine manages to destroy the system but Warhawk fights him and it takes the rest of the team to put him down for the count. He is taken away by the police, as Jean informs the team that she’ll be staying with them after all.

Notes:
- Warhawk (Mitchell Tanner) was later revealed to have been working for the Hellfire Club, as seen in X-Men (1st series) #129. He planted a bugging device which they used to spy on the X-Men for many months to come.
- Jean fought Firelord in X-Men (1st series) #105.
- Wolverine fought Iron Fist in Iron Fist (1st series) #15.
- The X-Men fought Banshee’s cousin, Black Tom Cassidy and the Juggernaut back in X-Men (1st series) #101 - 103.
- Colosso was last seen way back in X-Men (1st Series) #22.
