Synopsis:

After dealing with a drug dealer on the street, Dagger decides to try being a normal 16 year old and leaves Cloak.

Cloak knows she will be back. Dagger goes to a club and begins to dance away in a swirl of light. Cloak attacks an apartment full of drug users. But he realizes that he can't go on without Dagger, so he goes searching for her.

A drug dealer takes advantage of Dagger's hypnotic state to knock her out and drags her to his uncle who has suffered many a setback due to Cloak & Dagger in the past.

The uncles goons get ready to shoot Dagger dead when she awakes and lets them have it with her light daggers.

Meanwhile, Cloak shows up and helps her out. Once the bad guys are all dealt with, the two are reunited and realize that they are linked in a way that can never be separated lightly.

Personal Notes:

The story of Cloak & Dagger's lives links directly with the 1980's push against the mass infiltration of drugs into America. These characters were created to try and show the perils and destruction of getting involved with illegal substances.

We see how Dagger on her own can become lost in her dizzying light to the point where she no longer realizes her surroundings and possible dangers. We also see how Cloak, when left on his own, becomes powerful to the point where he cant control himself.

Together, they balance each other out. Cloak cools Dagger's light so she can help others without getting lost, and Dagger gives Cloak just the amount of light he needs to help others and keep his killer instincts in check.

This issue of Marvel Fanfare also shows how there is light and darkness in each of us, and how you can't have one without the other. The key is to learn how to balance the two in such a way as to accomplish not only your goals in life, but to be there to help others as well.
