Illyana Rasputin was the main reason I picked up a comic book with New Mutants #15. Let's face it, I was 12 and just hitting puberty and loved things that went bump in the night so when I saw the cover of new Mutants #15 I was enthralled. (all clean thoughts). I read and reread that book and even the Magik series that came out (somehow I manged to scope out 3 of the 4 issues...any in 9.8 anyone). Then I found out about this book with the giant red hand. This surrounded the four issue limited series very nicely. I wanted to know more about Illyana and how she aged, of course that actually happened in Magik but the story ended and started here (it even touched base in New mutants #14). My comic book universe was getting bigger. Even though this was not my first X-men book it was leading up to where I learned about them. I guess I consider this a major set up for inserting a new character in a New comic book, after all the Brood were coming and Prof. X had to continue his legacy. This is also a Golden State pedigree.
