Owner's Description
Strange Adventures #39 is referenced in Fredric Wertham’s “Seduction of the Innocent” (SOTI) in Illustration #15 with the caption “Treating Police Contemptuously”.
Illustration #15 comes from a panel in the Captain Comet story “The Guilty Gorilla” contained in Strange Adventures #39. In this story, Captain Comet is trying to put an evil, super intelligent Gorilla behind bars. Using his powers of telepathy, the Gorilla escapes from the hands of justice and decides to join forces with a group of criminals. Along the way Wertham observes that the gorilla treats police contemptuously by clunking together the heads of a couple of police officers. Fear not this assault on law enforcement, as Captain Comet catches up with the mischievous ape and dispatches the bad Gorilla by outlasting him in a choke hold.
