Issue #53. Key issue. First appearance of Sergeant Abraham Ford, Eugene Porter, and Rosita Espinosa
Rick, Michonne, and Carl are reunited with Glenn and Maggie on horses while on the road. Everybody was glad to be together again. A happy reunion turns bittersweet when Maggie inquires about her dad and brother, Rick gives her a look that confirms that they are dead.
Glenn leads the group back to Hershel's Farm where they are reunited with Dale, Andrea, the twin boys, and Sofia. Maggie goes to deal with her grief in private. Rick consoles with Dale, regretting not escaping with Dale and the rest instead of staying at prison and confronting the Governor. Rick feels responsible for the death of Lori, the baby, Hershel, and the rest of the prison group. Dale tells Rick not to dwell on the "what ifs" as that would destroy his sanity. Rick says that he doesn't want to make decisions anymore.
Rick catches Michonne talking to herself and she admits to him that she talks to her dead boyfriend as a way of coping. Rick in turns admits to her that he uses a telephone and pretends to be talking to Lori in order to cope with her death.
In the mean time Andrea shots a warning shot to deter three strangers approaching the farm. Former Army Sergeant Abraham Ford introduces himself, Doctor Eugene Porter, and Rosita Espinosa as people looking for spare supplies and food for their journey to Washington D.C. A wandering zombie approaches and Abraham skillfully dispatches it with a stab through the head with his knife. We are given the impression that Abraham is a skilled fighter.
Eugene Porter explains that they are headed to Washington D.C. and that he is a scientist who knows exactly what caused the zombie apocalypse.
